Some nights, reading just doesn't happen. Pipit reads with them.

Between work, dinner and bedtime, the tablet usually wins. That's not a parenting failure. Pipit does the sounding out, so they practice while you cook.

  2. HearPipit reads it out loud, clearly, as many times as they like.

She reads it to me now

My daughter is four and taps every dot on the apple page before breakfast. Last night she read the whole dog page to me and only pressed the dots to check herself. Best thing we bought this year.

Sunday drives got quiet in a good way

We drive 40 minutes to my mom's every Sunday and he used to ask for my phone the whole way. Now the book sits on his tray and he does the stories and the songs. Get the tray, it needs a flat spot.

    Easy enough for grandma

I'm not good with gadgets and there was nothing to set up. Charged it with the cable, pressed GO and my granddaughter took over. I got the Family Set so each grandchild has one at home.

Lay it flat or it misses taps

On the table it works every time. On a couch cushion it sometimes misses a tap, so we read at the table now. My son loves that he can repeat the same line ten times and the book never sighs.

The Star Kit was a hit

On day one the bear bookmark and the stickers got as much love as the book. Now she earns a star on the chart for every story she finishes.

Questions

Parents usually ask us

What age is it for?

Ages 3 to 7. Most kids start with letter sounds around 3 or 4 and move into the stories at their own pace. The First Words book in the Talk & Read Set suits ages 2 and up.

Does my child need to know their letters first?

No. It starts with the 26 letters and their sounds, then builds to short words, phrases and 17 stories.

Is there a screen, an app or Wi-Fi?

None. No screen, no app, no Wi-Fi, no account and no subscription. Nothing to download or update.

How does it work?

Lay the book flat, press GO on the page, then tap the dot beside any letter, word or line to hear it read out loud. Your child says it back, then tries the next one.

Does it work on a lap or in bed?

Lay it on something flat and firm, like a table, a tray or a lap desk. The dots respond best when the book lies flat, which is why the travel tray is a popular add-on.

How is it charged?

With the USB-C cable in the box, like a phone. There are no batteries to buy, and an on and off switch saves the charge between sessions.

Will this teach my child to read?

It gives them a fun way to practice letters, sounds, words and stories on their own every day. Every child learns at their own pace, and it works best alongside reading together.

What's in the Talk & Read Set?

The Pipit Reader plus the First Words sound book, where your child taps a picture and hears the word (ages 2+). Start with the book that fits today; the other is ready when they are.

What's in the free Reading Star Kit?

A reward chart with 60 smiley stickers, a roll of 100 holographic star stickers, 2 finger reading pointers and 2 animal ruler bookmarks. It comes free with every order.

How long is shipping? Will it arrive by Christmas?

Orders ship within 2 days and usually arrive 7 to 10 days after you order, with tracking by email. The dates under the Add to bookshelf button update every day.

What if it's not a hit at our house?

You have 60 days to decide. Email support@ventrafinds.com and we'll send a US returns address; once it's back we refund the full price. The Reading Star Kit is yours to keep.
