I need WhatsApp. Does it actually work?

Yes. WhatsApp runs on Android 6 and up, and lowkey runs Android 8.1. Install it from the Play Store and sign in with your number. TikTok, Facebook, Spotify, Venmo and Instagram Lite install the same way.

Which apps won't work?

Some newer apps need a newer Android. Right now that includes the main Instagram app (Instagram Lite works), the YouTube app, Uber and most big US bank apps. Google Maps no longer gets updates, so use Maps Go for directions. App rules change over time, so keep your old phone at home for banking.

Will it work with my carrier?

lowkey is an unlocked 4G phone for GSM networks. In the US it does not work on Verizon. Message us your carrier before you order and we'll give you a straight answer.

Isn't T9 slow?

Your speed comes back in a few days, and the touchscreen keyboard is there for long messages. Most people end up saying the keys are the fun part.

Can my kid use it as a first phone?

Yes, with your setup. It's a full Android phone with the Play Store, so add your own parental controls before you hand it over.

How long does the battery last?
